Day 1: Momella Gate (1,500 meters) to Miriakamba Hut (2,514 meters)

– Start trekking from Momella Gate, the entrance to Arusha National Park
– Hike through montane forest, with chances to spot wildlife such as colobus monkeys and buffalo
– Reach Miriakamba Hut for overnight stay

Day 2: Miriakamba Hut to Saddle Hut (3,570 meters)

– Continue trekking through the forest, gradually gaining altitude
– Pass by the Maio Falls and the scenic Fig Tree Arch
– Ascend to Saddle Hut, situated between Little Meru and Mount Meru
– Spend the night at Saddle Hut

Day 3: Saddle Hut to Summit (4,566 meters) and descent to Miriakamba Hut

– Start very early (usually around midnight) for the summit attempt
– Ascend steeply to Rhino Point and then on to the summit of Mount Meru
– Enjoy breathtaking views of Mount Kilimanjaro and the surrounding landscape from the summit
– Descend back to Saddle Hut for a brief rest before continuing down to Miriakamba Hut for overnight stay

Day 4: Miriakamba Hut to Momella Gate

– Descend through the forest back to Momella Gate
– Reach Momella Gate where your trek concludes
